For Belgians the months of March and April are not only months where we are looking forward to spring coming but also to the many cyclist tours to watch at on Sundays.
The cyclist tour season has already been started last Sundays but the one every Belgian cannot wait to see is our Flanders’ Finest or the Tour of Flanders.
The 103rd Tour of Flanders will kick off again in Antwerp, on Sunday 7 April 2019. The race starts at 10:30 a.m., and the riders must cover a 267-km route, crossing the finish line in Oudenaarde.
Tour villages
The 2019 route of Flanders’ Finest is more or less the same as in previous years. The riders will pass through all seven of the Tour villages, between Antwerp and Oudenaarde, again. They are Sint-Niklaas, Hamme-Zogge, Berlare, Aalst, Erpe-Mere, Herzele and Zottegem. Every town has planned plenty of activities and events, guaranteeing a celebratory race weekend. The pack then winds its way through the last Tour village, Zottegem, to hit the first cobbles of the Flemish Ardennes, namely Lippenhovestraat and Paddestraat.
At 365 we definitely recommend you to go to one of the cities to see cyclists from all over the world driving at an incredible speed at our Flanders’ streets. The experience really becomes worthwhile if you go with friends together and enjoy some Belgian beers and food while watching the tour.
Have fun!
